MHF held a conference in September 2012 to relaunch its grants programme.

Conference participants included recipients of MHF grants, voluntary and community organisations and funders.

Speakers included Rob Williamson, MHF Trustee and Chief Executive of the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, who elaborated the three strands of the new grants programme. Fiona Ellis described the challenges of undertaking policy work in the region. Nick Pearce, national Director of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) and former Head of the Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street, spoke about the ‘arts and crafts’ of policy-making.
